# GEO Citation Lab licensing

This repository uses separate licenses for software and original content.

## Software

Source code, analysis scripts, installation scripts, workflow files, agent skills, and the
software portions of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files are licensed under the MIT License in
`LICENSE-CODE`.

## Original content

Original prose, research reports, documentation, visualizations, and catalog metadata created for
GEO Citation Lab are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license
(CC BY 4.0) described in `LICENSE-CONTENT`.

## Third-party material

These licenses cover only rights held by the GEO Citation Lab contributors. Academic paper PDFs,
source datasets, fonts, trademarks, and other third-party material keep their original terms.
Directory-level license files and `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md` take precedence for those materials.

Redistributions must preserve this file, `LICENSE-CODE`, `LICENSE-CONTENT`, applicable
directory-level licenses, and `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`.
